June 27, the Standing Committee on Production and Manufacturing Infrastructures of the Republic of Artsakh NA organized a hearing to which Minister of Agriculture G. Hayriyan, representatives of regional administrations and horticulturalists/gardeners were invited.

Measures aimed at mitigating the effects of hail have been discussed.

According to Georgy Hayriyan, 2023 was a year of drought, hail and mudflows, as a result of which we have suffered heavy losses.

The regions of Askeran and Martakert mostly suffered damages. According to the data of June 15, 1661.4 hectares of territory were affected by hail.

The young gardeners, present at the hearing, provided information on the condition of their gardens. They spent money on pesticides. They won't get a harvest because of the hail; therefore, they applied for compensation.

G. Hayriyan noted that there were not enough funds, compensation money was not provided in the budget.

According to Gagik Baghunts, Vice President of the National Assembly, young gardeners should receive support, as they are facing a survival problem.

Chairman of the Committee on Production and Manufacturing Infrastructures, V. Kasyan, proposed to support the gardeners affected by the hail at the expense of the 2023 budget funds and partially implemented projects. The issue will be raised at the regular sitting of the parliament. The deputies will address the President of the Republic.
