THE REPUBLIC OF ARTSAKH
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
FACTIONS’
STATEMENT
ON THE REPUBLIC OF ARTSAKH BLOCKADE BY AZERBAIJAN AND THE DEEPENING OF THE HUMANITARIAN DISASTER
The military-political leadership of Azerbaijan, grossly violating the norms of international law and the obligations assumed by the Trilateral Declaration of November 9, 2020, has been deepening the blockade policy of Artsakh since December 12 under the far-fetched pretext of protecting the environment.
In the conditions of the ongoing complete blockade and the winter, the repeated interruptions of electricity, Internet, and gas supply from January 17, 2023 are putting the population of the Republic of Artsakh on the verge of a humanitarian disaster. Added to that was the terrorist actions of "eco-activists" against 19 children who were returning from Goris to Stepanakert, accompanied by peacekeepers, on the night of January 17-18, and spreading all that in the Azerbaijani press and social networks.
The ongoing creeping war by the Azerbaijani authorities against the population of the Republic of Artsakh is taking place with the almost silent consent of the world. It aims to break the will of Artsakh Armenians and deport tens of thousands of people from their historical homeland through ethnic cleansing. With similar steps, Azerbaijan is also trying to thwart the efforts of international organizations and various countries aimed at extinguishing the foci of war and settling conflicts in the region.
We call on the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, parties to the statement of November 9, 2020, to take urgent measures to unblock Artsakh and prevent a humanitarian disaster.
We urge the international structures and the UN member states to prevent the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan with practical steps in addition to statements and calls.
In order to adequately overcome the challenges facing the Republic of Artsakh, we call on all Armenians to take appropriate steps to stop the aggressive actions of Azerbaijan and protect the legitimate right of Artsakh Armenians to live on their land.
