We were deeply saddened to learn about the untimely death of Vardges Baghryan, former deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, honored journalist of the NKR.

Vardges Baghryan was a figure dedicated to his people, country and statehood with a deep awareness of responsibility and service to the homeland. That's the reason why, having won the trust of the people many times, he had been elected 3 times a deputy of the 2nd, 5th and 6th convocations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, assuming responsible positions. He was a member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, Head of the NA "Democracy" faction.

By the order of the NKR President, in 2007, he was awarded Honorary title of the NKR Honored Journalist. He was the winner of the NKR Government annual award after Yeghishe, winner of the "Mesrop Mashtots" medal, member of the Union of Writers and Journalists of the NKR, author of a number of TV films and books.

On behalf of the Artsakh Republic National Assembly and myself, I sincerely condole with Vardges Baghryan's family, share the grief of loss with relatives and friends.
