November 27, joint sitting of the NA Standing Committees on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and on Financial-Budgetary and Economic Management was chaired by Armen Sargsyan and Aram Grigoryan.
Presenting the expenses of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism by the Law «On State Budget 2020», the Minister Lernik Hovhannisyan noted that it will make 2 bln 240 mln drams instead of 2 bln 122 mln in 2019. According to the Minister a subscription program will be developed and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport to organize coordinated school visits to theatrical performances and museums. The minister answered the questions of the parliamentarians related to the replenishing the republican library with modern literature, reconstruction of the Stepanakert Dramatic Theater, activation of ensembles and theater groups in the villages, as well as about the renovation of the Targmanchyats Church and Horekavank.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sport Mikayel Hambardzumyan, presenting the expenses of the spheres, noted that next year's budget is planned to allocate 16 billion 34 million drams, which is about 1.5 billion more than last year.
The Deputy Minister has given explanations to the issues raised by parliamentarians on the pilot program of food provision in schools, compensation of the education fees for the children of the ensigns (officers), teachers' salaries and hour rates, school curriculum loads, and other topics.
