September 6, the Republic of Artsakh National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and the Republic of Armenia National Assembly Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport convened a joint meeting in the meeting hall of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism in Shushi, as a result of which the Chairs of the Standing Committees Armen Sargsyan and Mkhitar Hayrapetyan signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The sides considered the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in Shushi, a historic educational and cultural center for Armenians, symbolic. Clarifying the points in the memorandum, Armen Sargsyan attaches importance to discussions on sectoral issues, including the point of mutual participation in international meetings, parliamentary hearings and other events, noting that it will enable to have comprehensive documents and legislation.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also attached importance to the signing of the memorandum in order to move the cooperation between the RA and Artsakh Standing Committees to a new level and to work in a unified discussion format.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of Artsakh Narine Aghabalyan and Minister of Culture, Youth and Tourism of Artsakh Lernik Hovhannisyan. Welcoming the signing of the Memorandum, the ministers expressed their readiness to continue to cooperate with the Standing Committees of the RA and the Republic of Artsakh Parliaments.
Following the joint meeting, the members of the committees had discussions with the Artsakh Minister of Education, Science and Sport, Narine Aghabalyan and Minister of Culture, Youth Affairs and Tourism, Lernik Hovhannisyan. Reference was made to the wide range of issues within the jurisdiction of committees and the possibilities for legislative regulation in these areas.
