Joint Sitting of the Standing Committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh and the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia

July 14, a joint sitting of the Standing Committees on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh and the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was held in the Artsakh Parliament, chaired by committee chairs Hovik Jivanyan and Vladimir Vardanyan. The agenda of the joint sitting included one issue - the discussion of the Artsakh Republic Electoral Code.

Opening the sitting, the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Hovik Jivanyan welcomed the organization of the joint sitting, emphasizing the important legal-political document for the country, the necessity of discussions organized in different formats around the Electoral Code.

In his opening remarks, Chair of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly Vladimir Vardanyan highlighted the importance of practical ties between the parliaments of the two Armenian states and express willingness to conduct effective discussions on the Electoral Code.

President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh Ashot Ghoulyan welcomed the joint sitting of the two committees, emphasizing that with this in practice, the cooperation between the parliaments is manifested which is beneficial for the exchange of legislative experience.

Touching upon the Electoral Code, the Head of the Parliament noted that the discussions around the project were organized, providing broad participation with the extra-parliamentary forces of Artsakh as well as representatives of state institutions and expert community of the Republic of Armenia.

Presenting the draft Electoral Code of the Republic of Artsakh, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Artsakh, Ararat Danielyan, also touched upon the proposals submitted by the factions and answered the questions submitted by the deputies of the two parliaments.

The results of the joint sitting have been summarized during the briefing of committee chairs Hovik Jivanyan and Vladimir Vardanyan.
