July 9, the Republic of Artsakh National Assembly discussed the draft of the Republic of Artsakh Electoral Code with the participation of 10 extra-parliamentary forces.
Opening the meeting, Speaker of the National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan thanked those present for accepting the invitation and stressed the organization of discussions on such an important document for the country in terms of having a code corresponding to democratic elections standards. The NA President also noted that at the June 27 regular sitting the National Assembly passed the first reading the Electoral Code of the Republic of Artsakh and holding discussions in such format before the second reading will enable to recruit not only the parliamentary but also the proposals of the extra-parliamentary forces and submit them to the government.
Then Justice Minister Ararat Danielyan introduced the main directions, innovations and amendments to the new Electoral Code, followed by the representatives of the extra-parliamentary forces have asked questions and made suggestions.
The deadline for submission of proposals before the second reading is July 11.
Representatives of parliamentary factions also took part in the discussion.
