President of the Artsakh Republic National Assembly Ashot Ghoulyan has received the delegation headed by Arman Tatoyan, Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the wish of the RA Ombudsman to visit the Parliament of Artsakh, Ashot Ghoulyan attached importance to the continuation of such meetings in the context of the processes taking place in the field of human rights protection in Armenia and in the world in order to make Artsakh a partner and share opinions. Speaking about human rights and freedoms in Artsakh, Ashot Ghulyan noted that the Constitution adopted in 2017 has given considerable attention to the fundamental human and civil rights and freedoms. The Head of the Parliament also spoke about the work done in the legal field, underlining the adoption of the Law of the Republic of Artsakh "On Freedom of Meetings"
Ombudsman of the Republic of Armenia Arman Tatoyan thanked for the high-level cooperation with the Parliament of Artsakh and expressed willingness to participate in discussions in the field of human rights in a parliamentary format with a colleague from Artsakh.
Issues related to the prospects for joining Artsakh to international conventions and treaties, the role of parliamentary oversight and the Parliament – Ombudsman cooperation have been discussed during the meeting.
Hovik Jivanyan, Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and Artak Beglaryan, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Artsakh participated in the meeting.
